OFT draft credit brokers and intermediaries guidance (
79kb)
Citizens Advice and Citizens Advice Scotland welcome the revision of the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) guidance on credit brokers and intermediaries. In March of this year Citizens Advice and Citizens Advice Scotland submitted a super-complaint to the OFT about unsolicited real time marketing and up-front fee charging practices by consumer credit brokerage firms and other consumer credit businesses. The super-complaint accompanied the evidence briefing entitled Cashing In, CAB evidence on cold calling for credit and up front fees charged by loan finding firms which provided the OFT with a large body of evidence setting out the detriment to consumer interests caused by these practices.
