The Citizens Advice service offers practical, up-to-date information and advice on a wide range of topics, including; debt, benefits, housing, legal, discrimination, employment, immigration, consumer and other problems.
Our advice is available to everyone regardless of race, gender, sexuality, age, nationality, disability or religion.
Dacorum District Citizens Advice Bureau provides free, confidential, independent and impartial advice to the people of Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Tring and the surrounding areas.
We provide advice by phone and face to face, at our offices in Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead, with the aim of helping people resolve whatever problems they face. Most of our advice is provided by a team of 50 trained volunteers supported by specialist staff.
Last year we helped thousands of individuals in Dacorum deal with over 19,000 separate problems on issues including: debt, benefits, employment, consumer rights, housing, immigration, discrimination and legal matters.
We are a registered charity and a member of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux who provide information, training and operational support to enable us to provide advice of the very highest quality.
Our service means that people in Dacorum always have somewhere to turn in times of crisis, but the economic climate and the unprecedented changes to the welfare system mean unmet demand for our service is growing. We are always looking for new volunteers including advisers, trustees and administrators to help us meet that demand.
The majority of advisers are trained volunteers, helping the Citizens Advice service to resolve over seven million new problems every year.
We couldn’t survive without our 21,500 fantastic volunteers, but we need around 5,000 more. We’re looking for all sorts of people with different backgrounds and skills to volunteer with us for a uniquely rewarding experience.
About the Citizens Advice service
There are 382 Citizens Advice Bureaux across England and Wales, all of which are members of Citizens Advice.
Together, we are the Citizens Advice service, and we help people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.
Because every Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent charity we rely on the support of people like you.
With a Citizens Advice Bureau in the community people always have somewhere to turn in times of crisis, but the unmet demand for our service is growing. Can you help us to help more people?
Thank you to all our supporters:
Dacorum Borough Council, Herts County Council, The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, Big Lottery Fund, Department of Energy and Climate Change
