About Citizens Advice
Our aims and principles
The Citizens Advice service aims:
- To provide the advice people need for the problems they face.
- To improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.
The service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination.
Our structure
There are 394 Citizens Advice Bureaux across England and Wales and all are registered charities. Citizens Advice itself is also a registered charity, as well as being the membership organisation for bureaux. Together we make up the Citizens Advice service.

Citizens Advice services around the world
There are more than a dozen organisations like Citizens Advice around the world. These include
Citizens Advice in Northern Ireland and
Citizens Advice Scotland, as well as services as far away as New Zealand.
