Course outline
Employment law is a constantly changing field of practice and keeping up to date is a challenge. This course aims to bring you up to speed and keep you updated providing you with comprehensive notes and documentation as well as a regular email update for a year after the course.
Already in 2008:
- significant changes to sex discrimination legislation have been made and the European Court of Justice looks set to extend disability discrimination rights to the carers of disabled people
- in race discrimination the EU Race Directive has been applied by the EAT to give different rights to those discriminated against on grounds of colour or suffering victimisation
- the Court of Appeal and the EAT have considered the employment status of agency workers and casual workers
- The European Court of Justice has indicated a new approach to accrual of holiday pay during sick leave
- employment tribunal have reached decisions on the justification of age discrimination in retirement
This course will cover the new cases and legislation on:
- employment contracts and status issues
- unfair dismissal and redundancy
- statutory rights
- working time
- dispute resolution
- flexible working
- transfer of undertakings
- ET and EAT practice and procedure
Learning objectives
