Learning objectives

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • Summarise the rights that apply during maternity leave;
  • Describe the additional rights to time off for specified reasons available to parents;
  • Advise on how a request for flexible working should be made;
  • Explain how sex discrimination may arise in relation to child case issues;
  • Formulate strategies for parents seeking leave or contractual variations
