Capability and incapacity for work

Course outline

This practical course takes a detailed look at the personal capability assessment (PCA) for incapacity benefit and the new work capability assessment (WCA) for employment & support allowance.  The course aims to increase the confidence of advisers to help clients through the system and disputing incapacity for work decisions.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • identify the medical test descriptors
  • apply caselaw to help interpret the medical tests
  • describe how a health condition might fit the descriptors
  • challenge a capability for work decision
