The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.

Every Citizens Advice Bureau is a registered charity reliant on trained volunteers and funds to provide these vital services for local communities.

  • All CAB volunteers receive a thorough induction and support whatever their role in the bureau.
  • Volunteers receive travel expenses, and some bureaux are also able to pay for the cost of carers’ expenses.
  • Our volunteer advisers all receive free and comprehensive training in generalist advice, and many go on to train in specialist advice.
  • Most of the information needed by advisers is in our regularly updated electronic information system, and there is always a more experienced advice supervisor to provide support and guidance during advice sessions.
