Benefits for older people
Course outline
For advisers supporting people above state pension age, this course will help you to identify the range of benefits available and help clients to maximise entitlement. In particular, the course will cover retirement pensions and pension credit, but also look at housing benefit, council tax benefit, disability and carer benefits and help from the social fund.
Learning objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- identify which benefits are available and the relationship between them
- explain the main rules of entitlement to state retirement pension
- assess entitlement to pension credit
- identify potential entitlement to disability and carer benefits
