Confused by the range of benefits available? Unsure about the planned changes to the benefits system? This course gives a basic overview of the current system and the main changes from 2013, and is designed for those new to the subject or whose role requires them to signpost clients for more in-depth advice.
Learning objectives
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- recognise which benefits can be claimed in which circumstances
- explain the principles of means-testing
- recognise the main changes to be introduced from 2013, especially under universal credit
- describe the claims procedure and how to challenge decisions
