Claiming DLA for children
Course outline
This course will give those working with children and families an understanding of the DLA rules as they apply to children. You will explore potential problem areas in a way which seeks to maximise your success in submitting DLA claims for children. Basic DLA knowledge, familiarity with the claim form and experience of its completion would be helpful. The course touches on the transition to personal independence payment when children reach 16 years of age.
Learning objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- explain the criteria on which DLA entitlement for children is decided
- recognise key information to include in the claim form
- identify relevant case law to support the claim
- identify additional evidence and resources to support the claim
