Welfare reform for non-benefit advisers

Course outline

This half-day seminar is designed to provide an overview of the main changes to social security entitlements coming into effect under the Welfare Reform Act. It is suitable for those with a basic knowledge of the current benefits system who require a general overview of what the changes are and how benefit claimants will be affected.

Learning objectives

By the end of this course you will be able to:

explain the provisions of the Welfare Reform Act
recognise how universal credit is expected to work
describe the key aspects of personal independence payment
explain how and when benefit entitlements are likely to change
