Moving to ESA? Have your say

What is the issue?

All those who have been on out-of-work sickness benefits other than ESA, such as Incapacity Benefit, are being reassessed during the next three years to see if they are entitled to Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

We are keen to monitor the process, to see whether people are treated fairly and whether any medical evidence they have is taken properly into account. We also want to build a picture of the administration of the process and find out how people are personally affected. This will allow us to campaign for improvements to the benefit and the way it is administered.

How can you help?

If you have been on another sickness/disability benefit for some time, and are now being assessed for ESA, you can fill in a very short ‘diary’ as you go through the ESA claiming process. It is a simple survey, with a section that can be completed at each stage of the claiming process or at the end of the process if you prefer.

Responses are completely confidential and anonymous and will be used to campaign for improvements.

You can complete the diary online, or, you can download and print off a paper version which you can return via our FREEPOST address.
