Citizens Advice

The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.

Every Citizens Advice Bureau is a registered charity reliant on trained volunteers and funds to provide these vital services for local communities.

Citizens Advice annual parliamentary reception

The Citizens Advice annual parliamentary reception takes place each summer within the Palace of Westminster.

In June 2009, our host was Karen Buck MP, Chair of the Citizens Advice All Party Parliamentary Group. Parliamentarians were joined by representatives of the Citizens Advice service and a range of stakeholders at the event which was supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

At the reception, Labour MP Ian McCartney was presented with the Citizens Advice Parliamentarian of the Year award for 2009 by David Harker, Citizens Advice Chief Executive and Stephen Hester, Royal Bank of Scotland Chief Executive.
