MoneyActive

MoneyActive is joint venture between Citizens Advice and Nationwide Building Society. It is a three year project, which started in 2009.
MoneyActive is:
- recruiting and training 1,300 Citizens Advice Bureaux volunteers to deliver money management sessions within local communities across the UK
- making money management information available to everyone through the Citizens Advice online resource Adviceguide.org.uk

Training by volunteers
More than 120 bureaux across England and Wales have recruited and trained over 1,100 MoneyActive volunteers. MoneyActive volunteers have delivered training to individuals and groups on topics such as the real cost of credit and starting to save. Over 32,000 people have taken part in training sessions.

Money management through our website
Adviceguide.org.uk helps people take control of money by providing advice and information on budgeting, borrowing, saving, banking and dealing with debts. It includes a budgeting tool and sample letters that people can use to manage their own debts.
Over two million visits have been made to the new money management pages of Adviceguide since April 2009.
Improving money confidence
An independent evaluation has shown that people taking part in MoneyActive sessions were more confident at managing their money after the training. 69% of people taking part said they felt fairly or very confident about managing their money after the training, compared to just 34% before the training.
Spreading money know-how
MoneyActive volunteers have improved the money skills of front-line workers in more than 700 organisations. Front-line workers in community based organisations have received money know-how training from MoneyActive volunteers so that they can spread their knowledge and help their clients. By working in this way we estimate that MoneyActive has helped a further 90,000 people.
