Our work with others

We have been working at the heart of financial capability strategy and practice since 2001, when we successfully lobbied alongside others for a national strategy for financial capability.
We help Citizens Advice Bureaux and other community based organsiations work together to deliver money management training. We also work with a range of other agencies to help create an effective and cohesive financial capability community. For example:
- we have established 14 regional financial capability forums, covering all of England and Wales to promote joint working. These multi-agency forums have attracted participants from over 900 organisations. We have channelled over £1 million of national funding to forum members to help them promote financial capability in their communities.
- we share our substantial expertise in debt, financial exclusion and financial skills at a national level. We work closely with the Money Advice Service who send senior representatives to our Financial Skills for Life programme Steering Group. The Money Advice Service also support our regional forums, which it views as the focus for financial capability partnership delivery . We are also members of the Financial Inclusion Taskforce set up by HM Treasury and project specific groups such as the cross agency group supporting MIND’s ‘Mindful Money’ project.

We work with a range of partners to plan and deliver projects. For example, we have:
- produced training materials for agencies that work with young people in partnership with Fairbridge
- produced a guide for advice workers teaching financial capability in schools together with pfeg (Personal Finance Education Group)
- hosted secondees from the Financial Services Authority (FSA)/Consumer Financial Education Body who have contributed to our research and strategic work.
