Salary: Sc 6 Pt 24 – 28 £22401 - £25463 (depending on experience)

Hours per week 37

Type of contract: Initially fixed term to 31 March 2020 with the possibility of extension

We are seeking to recruit a full time welfare benefits caseworker on a fixed term contract initially to 31st March 2020 with the possibility of extension.

You will provide a welfare benefits advice service to people with the aim of maximising their income. The post holder will undertake casework, at a specialist level, assisting clients to access their entitlements to welfare benefits and other sources of financial help. Casework will include making applications, and all aspects of welfare benefit appeals.

To be successful in this role you will need:

•One year’s recent full time (or part time equivalent) paid or unpaid experience of advice work.

•To have managed your own case load of complex welfare benefits cases and an in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits including those related to disability and sickness.

•An understanding of the issues facing people affected by long-term illness and disability.

•Commitment and understanding to the organisation’s “Aims & Principles” and equal opportunities policies.
