This page gives details on architects organisations you can contact to find an architect or deal with complaints if your architect is a member.

Architects Registration Board

All architects must belong to the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and follow the 'Architects Code'. The ARB has a searchable database of all architects on the Register at www.architects-register.org.uk. The ARB can deal with complaints made by clients. The contact details are:

Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland

Most architects in Scotland belong to the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), and follow 'The Charter' and 'Byelaws'. There is a conciliation and arbitration scheme to deal with complaints against members. Architects in Scotland can join the Royal Institute of British Architects instead of, or as well as, RIAS. Royal Institute of British Architects

Most architects belong to the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and are bound by the RIBA Code of Professional Conduct. There is an internal conciliation and arbitration scheme to deal with complaints against members.

Arbitration is a way of resolving disputes without having to go to court.

Royal Society of Ulster Architects

The Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) is the professional body for chartered architects in Northern Ireland. RSUA can provide advice on matters relating to architecture and has a searchable database of member architects. The contact details are:
