Location: Citizens Advice South Derbyshire and City (although the post holder will be expected to travel to different GP Practices throughout South Derbyshire each week)

Citizens Advice South Derbyshire and City offers a weekly, comprehensive, free advice service in nine GP surgeries across South Derbyshire. This service is funded from Derbyshire County Council’s Public Health budget and supported by the local GP surgeries.

The service provides help to patients on a wide range of issues, including benefits, debts, housing, employment, immigration, relationship breakdown and more.

Role Purpose

We are seeking a motivated and passionate GP Outreach Adviser to deliver one-off, general advice to patients at GP surgeries in South Derbyshire to:

Deliver regular confidential General advice sessions,

Provide advice on cases covering, but not limited to welfare rights, debt, employment, housing and other issues as required.

Provide advocacy or referral to specialist staff or other agencies if appropriate,

Assist in the promotion of the service,

Participate in multi-agency forums and liaise with community groups, as appropriate

Maintain accurate records of all advice provided,

Keep records of benefit income raised, levels of indebtedness and other statistics for both the Citizens Advice service and project reporting

Contribute to the Research and Campaigns work ensuring that issues affecting outreach areas are taken up locally, regionally and nationally

Carry out other duties and responsibilities which are reasonably determined.
