Financial education volunteers praised at royal reception

Today Citizens Advice volunteers are to be thanked at a celebration tea, hosted by HRH the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, for their role giving money management training as part of MoneyActive, a national project funded by Nationwide Building Society.

Speaking at the event Princess Anne, who has been Patron of the Citizens Advice service since 1990, is expected to thank the volunteers for their enormous contribution to the MoneyActive project, CAB clients and their communities. Gillian Guy, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, will also be giving a speech at the event to recognise the role of volunteers in extending the services on offer by the charity. Money Saving Expert, Martin Lewis, who is currently campaigning to increase the provision of financial education in schools will also speak at the event and congratulate the volunteers.

The afternoon tea will celebrate the contribution made by over 1,600 project volunteers across the country over the last three years and award the best volunteers and teams.

We are very proud to partner Citizens Advice in their groundbreaking work to prevent debt and the harm it causes individuals and society"

"Volunteering is not new to us at Citizens Advice but thanks to the partnership with Nationwide Building Society we have been able to embark on this innovative programme to train volunteers in new roles delivering financial capability sessions in their communities.
