How much Attendance Allowance you can get

This advice applies to Northern Ireland

There are 2 different 'rates' of Attendance Allowance - you'll either get £55.65 or £83.10 a week.

The amount you get will depend on:

  • the difficulties you have
  • how much help or supervision you need
  • when you need help or supervision

The 2 different amounts of Attendance Allowance are called the lower and higher rates.

Lower rate - £55.65 per week

You'll get this amount if you need help or supervision during either the day or the night.

Higher rate - £83.10 per week

You'll get this amount if you need help or supervision during both the day and night.

Attendance Allowance and your other benefits

You won't pay tax on Attendance Allowance.

If you get Attendance Allowance you might be able to get extra help with other benefits.

You won't be able to claim Attendance Allowance if you already get Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independent Payment (PIP).
