Media and publicity

Help to publicise the important work that your local Citizens Advice does. This may be through forming links with the local media, writing press releases, developing website and social media channels or producing a regular newsletter.

Assist your local Citizens Advice by identifying possible sources of funding in the community. This may include organising or supporting community fundraising projects, drafting funding applications and engaging with current supporters.

calendar icon  Suggested time – 1 day a week for at least 3 months


Meet with members of the public on a one-to-one basis (either in person or over the phone) to provide advice. You will be trained to identify their problem, talk them through their various options, help them to decide on a path of action and, where necessary, act on their behalf, negotiating, drafting or writing letters or making appropriate referrals. You will also need to complete clear and accurate case records.

Reception worker

Be the first person that clients, callers and visitors to your local Citizens Advice speak to, answering their questions (both face-to-face and on the phone) and explaining to them the process for appointments, advice services and signing-in.
