The Citizens Advice energy team issued a consultation in July 2016 on plans to improve the publication of energy supplier performance information. We proposed to introduce a new online comparison tool that ranks energy suppliers according to a set of metrics and an overall performance rating.

The consultation closed on 9 September 2016, and we received 22 responses from stakeholders. Most responses came from domestic energy suppliers, a few from third party intermediaries and other stakeholders. The responses to the consultation [ 5.8 mb] have been published alongside this document. Citizens Advice is grateful to all stakeholders who responded to the consultation. We have thoroughly reviewed the responses and considered the issues raised.
