SSE announces cut to gas bills

28 Ionawr 2016

Citizens Advice has responded to news that SSE has announced a 5.3% cut to its standard gas tariff for residential customers.

Gillian Guy, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, said:

“Energy customers have been missing out on the rewards of low wholesale costs.

“It’s encouraging that SSE has followed E.On and decided to cut its gas bills. Hopefully this will give some help to households at a time when many have struggled to heat their homes and keep the lights on.

“But there’s a long way to go before all customers feel the benefit of low wholesale costs. Rival suppliers have no excuse for dragging their heels and urgently need to cut their bills. There is also an opportunity to go further by offering a more generous reduction than the cuts to bills so far."
