About the role
We are looking to recruit 3 part time energy advisors (full time position considered) to provide high-quality, impartial and confidential energy advice to vulnerable energy consumers.
The role will involve:
- Assessing each household's circumstances, vulnerabilities and energy needs, and identify the issues that need to be addressed first.
- Advising on energy bills, tariffs, payment methods, meters and smart meters, supplier communications, energy efficiency and practical ways to reduce energy use safely.
- Supporting clients with energy debt, billing or metering problems, supplier disputes, repayment options, hardship support and relevant grants plus advocate with suppliers where appropriate.
- Recognising issues outside the scope of Empower and making effective referrals for benefits, debt, housing or other specialist advice.
- Occasionally providing advice at agreed outreach or community venues and groups where required - travel will be minimal.
- Managing an individual caseload, including referrals, appointments, follow-up work and timely case closure, prioritising according to urgency and vulnerability.
- Maintaining accurate and timely Casebook and project records, including advice delivered, client outcomes, financial and energy savings, referrals and feedback.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and other CASW services, sharing information and best practice appropriately.
- Working professionally with external organisations and referral partners to support clients effectively.
- Building and maintaining effective referral relationships with relevant local organisations and promoting awareness of the Empower Project.
