Citizens Advice responds to Ofcom's announcement of Royal Mail fine for missed delivery targets
Responding to Ofcom’s announcement of a fine on Royal Mail for missing its delivery targets, Tom MacInnes, Director of Policy at Citizens Advice, said:
“Royal Mail has a woeful track record of failing to meet delivery targets. When these failures are just an ordinary part of doing business, Ofcom’s fine risks becoming another operating cost, doing little to encourage the company to improve its service.
“Missed post has real life consequences, with people left waiting for urgent medical appointment letters, legal documents and benefit decisions.
“Time and time again we have called on Ofcom to clamp down on Royal Mail’s poor performance. Ofcom needs to ensure consumers are getting an affordable and reliable service. Royal Mail must give paying customers a service that delivers.”
