Barclays' mistake a further setback to customer confidence in banks

17 Medi 2013

Citizens Advice has said the latest serious banking error will serve as a further setback to restoring trust in banks. Barclays bank has admitted 300,000 customers were charged the wrong interest on personal loans.

Citizens Advice Chief Executive Gillian Guy said:

“This latest serious banking error will serve as a further setback in restoring customer trust in the banking industry.  Barclays is right to review whether other customers may have been incorrectly charged interest for other products and I urge them to do this as quickly as possible.

“At a time when household budgets are tight every bit of income counts.  People need to have the correct information in order manage their finances and for any mistakes to be put right quickly.”
