Citizens Advice responds to Chris Huhne’s announcement about energy at Liberal Democrat Conference

Gillian Guy, Chief Executive at Citizens Advice, said:

"We saw a 78% increase in hits to our website this July, from people looking for advice on how to save money on their energy bills, compared with a year ago.

Chris Huhne must assure worried consumers that huge energy price rises will be brought under control, and that the big companies will be closely scrutinised so that people will be able to better budget for this essential service and know that they are getting the best value for money possible. Consumers must also be able to see how long-term programmes invested in by Government and big energy companies will impact on them in coming years."
