About the role

We employ approximately 220 people and are one of the largest and most diversely funded Local Citizens Advice within the network. We are a modern, innovative and progressive advice service that aims to provide the advice people need for the problems they face and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Tier Two Advice Service and are seeking an experienced and competent Generalist Adviser who has:

- Recent experience (within the last 12 months) of delivering generalist advice

- Completed their Adviser Learning Programme (Generalist Advice Certificate) or external equivalent such as NVQ Advice and Guidance Qualification

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work flexibly as part of a team

The successful applicant will be working on one of our Tier Two services which include:

- Energy Team: You’ll be responsible for delivering a range of services locally and regionally including energy advice casework. This team supports clients with benefits, debt and energy issues including engaging in the energy market and assessing the need for energy efficiency measures, applying for fuel vouchers and grant applications for white goods and essential household items and managing energy debts, dealing with billing disputes and complaints with suppliers.

- Help to Claim (National Service): You will be advising clients over the phone and via webchat on their eligibility for claiming Universal Credit, completing benefit checks and supporting clients to start their claims online.

- City-Wide Advice Service: You will be advising and supporting clients with a broad range of issues over the phone, face to face and via digital channels, such as new benefit applications and mandatory reconsiderations, re-housing applications, trust fund/grant applications, employment advice and immigration advice (Level 1 Only).

We can offer you a supportive culture within a charity setting committed to social justice. Because our people always go the extra mile to help our clients, we reward them with an attractive remuneration package with excellent terms and conditions of employment (see Job Pack on website for full info).
