Fake debt advice in Bradford District - don’t get scammed! (March 2017)

Bradford and Airedale Citizens Advice Bureau is warning local people about fake debt advisers operating in the district. Some local residents have been called by people claiming to be CAB debt advisers. But they are fake advisers who ask people to transfer money out of their bank accounts.

Real Citizens Advice debt advisers will never ask you to transfer your money into our bank account. So if anyone asks you to do that, don’t! We offer debt advice and we will help you decide how to deal with your debts. But we will never ask for your money - CAB advice is always free, independent, confidential and reliable.

If you’re suspicious about a call from someone who says they are from the CAB, you can ring us on 01274 758047 to check. For advice about problems other than debt – eg benefits, tax credits or housing – please call: 0344 245 1282 (local call rate).
