Landlord Registration Scheme

From 25 February 2014 all private landlords in Northern Ireland must register with the Landlord Registration Scheme. The scheme will collect and maintain up-to-date and accurate information on landlords and their properties. If you are a landlord and your property is managed by an agent, you are still responsible for registering with the scheme.

The register will allow tenants, neighbours and local councils to identity if a landlord is registered.

  • new landlords must register immediately prior to the letting of a new tenancy
  • existing landlords must register within 12 months from 25 February 2014
  • registration will last for 3 years.
