About the role
Are you friendly and approachable with keen active listening skills and a fair sized dollop of compassionate common sense? If so, we have a rewarding part time role available, working alongside Hinckley Area Food Bank volunteers with support from a team of Citizens Advice staff and volunteers.
You will work 16 hours per week overall working from the Hinckley Hub and Hinckley Area food banks. This is a community based role and you may also be required to attend client-facing events in the area and to make occasional home visits.
You will be providing advice and support to food bank users with a view to them becoming less dependent on food banks through welfare benefits, income maximisation, budgeting and debt advice.
Communication skills are really important for this role, with research and IT skills coming a close second. We will need you to write clear and concise case notes and keep accurate records of client interactions. You will need to be comfortable in setting clear boundaries and confident in managing conversations to get the information needed to move clients forward.
