Setting up a community-run post office: what you need to know.

Just under 200 community-run shops and pubs also provide post office services, often in rural areas where people can face significant barriers to accessing essential services.

Our research last year into community-run post offices showed the significant benefits they deliver to local communities. However, setting one up can be difficult.

Since then we have worked with the Plunkett Foundation and Post Office Limited to produce this guide 282 KB to make it easier for community-run enterprises to apply to run a post office.

Further advice and support for community-run groups and businesses can be accessed through the Plunkett Foundation here.
