Citizens Advice gives evidence to Work and Pensions Committee on changes to Jobcentre Plus

18 July 2016

In March 2016, the Work and Pensions Committee launched its inquiry into the future of Jobcentre Plus. The service is set to be affected by some major changes, particularly as the roll-out of Universal Credit continues.

Citizens Advice supports many clients who use Jobcentre services. Our submission [ 370 kb] to the inquiry is based on the evidence we collect on their experiences. It sets out some key challenges Jobcentre Plus will need to address if it is to successfully implement the reforms it is facing, as well as some changes we believe could help to address them. The roll-out of Universal Credit, the development of a support offer for those in work, and greater responsibilities for those in long-term unemployment will all place new demands on the service and its staff.
