Revised Child Poverty Strategy for Wales

Citizens Advice Cymru welcomes the Welsh Government's continuedcommitment to tackling child poverty in Wales and broadly supports many of the proposals outlined in the consultation including the value of maintaining a target to eradicate child poverty by 2020 and support for the five priority areas identified in the Strategy – food poverty; access to affordable childcare; in-work poverty; action to mitigate the impact of welfare reform; and housing and regeneration.

In recognition that realistically the target is unlikely to be met we also highlighted the need to start planning for what will happen beyond 2020 now, including undertaking a comprehensive review of progress to date across all sectors and key partners, not solely Welsh Government, to understand what's working well and what's not working so well.

Ymateb i Strategaeth Tlodi Plant Ddiwygiedig Cymru Llywodraeth Cymru [ 190 kb]

Strategaeth Tlodi Plant ddiwygiedig ar gyfer Cymru

Mae Cyngor ar Bopeth Cymru yn croesawu ymrwymiad parhaus Llywodraeth Cymru i fynd i'r afael â thlodi plant yng Nghymru ac ar y cyfan yn cefnogi llawer o'r cynigion sy'n cael eu hamlinellu yn yr ymgynghoriad gan gynnwys gwerth cynnal targed o ddileu tlodi plant erbyn 2020 a chefnogi pum maes blaenoriaeth y Strategaeth - tlodi bwyd; mynediad i ofal plant fforddiadwy; tlodi mewn gwaith; camau i leihau effaith diwygiadau lles; a thai ac adfywio.

Tra'n cydnabod bod y targed hwn yn annhebygol, roeddem hefyd yn pwysleisio'r angen i ddechrau cynllunio nawr ar gyfer beth fydd yn digwydd ar ôl 2020, gan gynnwys cynnal adolygiad cynhwysfawr o'r cynnydd hyd yma ar draws yr holl sectorau a phartneriaid allweddol, nid yn unig Llywodraeth Cymru, er mwyn deall beth sy'n gweithio a ddim yn gweithio cystal.
