Unpaid Carers Support Southampton (UCSS) is a small specialist team, working within Citizens Advice Southampton. There are an estimated 18,000 unpaid carers in Southampton: people who care for another adult due to illness or disability. The UCSS team is a team with a shared interest in making a difference to the lives of unpaid carers throughout Southampton city. The post holder will lead and manage this team, ensuring that the service develops and thrives to meet the needs of our city’s unpaid carers, and ensure the effective delivery and ongoing development of the Unpaid Carers Support service.
Key responsibilities
• Plan and oversee all elements of the service
• Manage a small staff team
• Ensure the service meets carers’ needs, KPIs and budget, and regularly report to commissioners
• Devise, implement and oversee appropriate working systems, including optimal use and development of the Client Management System
• Plan and develop the service in partnership with stakeholders
• Ensure the service reaches and engages with a diversity of carers
• Work closely with Adult Social Care and other delivery partners
You will have a commitment to supporting Southampton’s unpaid carers, and experience of successfully leading a team. You will be able to work with other stakeholders, and ensure the service meets the needs of the community it serves. Also that the systems and key performance indicators necessary to make this happen are in place.
